2023: The Next Chapter in Our 60 Year Evolution

Over 60 years Ballarat Kart Club has evolved from a small dirt track to a modern sprint kart circuit; and now you can actually watch it evolve.
2023 will see one of the biggest upgrades in the circuit's history after all that's come before. NOTE: Aerial photo dates do not match actual construction years.
Lucky for us, they do happen to be conveniently show change within a few years of each major upgrade.

2022 Club Member of the Year: Daniel Findlay

Congratulations and sincere thankyou to Daniel Findlay and the Findlay family.
Countless hours have been spent at the track, at the workshop, and behind a computer for the club over the past year.
Dan, Jess and the boys are regular sights at all club activities, with special mention going to the preparation for our 60th anniversary, the VCS trophies, and the track extension engineering.
Not to mention getting our new club logo and t-shirts over the finish line after many years of trying.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR VCS COMPETITORS

1 There is a lot of water, is the VCS Going Ahead?
YES!
If you do not already know, the Ballarat pits have been massively affected by the relentless rain, and the event could not have gone ahead as normal. (Luckily the track itself is unaffected.)
Having reviewed the situation today, the club is investing $10,000!!! before the VCS in additional gravel works to make the majority of the pit and high traffic areas as accessible as possible.
The track also looks amazing after a lot of hard work from the regular working bee crew!
That said, the pit plan for the event WILL be very different to normal…

ENTER NOW at https://cms.karting.net.au/cms/member

2 - Can I mark out a pit spot?
The short answer is NO. With the conditions we simply CANNOT allow pit marking.
Sorry that we need to be so direct but, it is a NO.

3 – Then how do I get a pit spot?
There will be NO designated club areas this year.
However, the best area (both driest and closest) for competitors will be in the MIDDLE of the track – this area will be strictly MARQUEE/TENT ONLY for the VCS event.
Marquees MUST fit in the assigned 3m wide rows.

NO trailer access will be given to the track for members or non-members until 7:00am Friday 19 November.
If required, a second Marquee only area will be established.
An event plan with traffic direction and trailer parking area will be communicated before the event.

4 - Can I practice before the VCS?
YES - the track will be open on its normal hours UNTIL 6:00pm Sunday 13 November.
The gates will then be locked in the week before the VCS from Monday until the end of the week.
Please note that certain areas are out of bounds until the gravel works are complete, and there may be short notice track closures when heavy machinery is on site.

We have a new logo!

We are excited to announce our new Ballarat Kart Club logo as we approach round 6 of the Victorian Country Series and the start of the exciting journey of our track extension works.

With a rich and proud history for over 60 years, the club continues to provide an energetic and supportive environment that allows members of all ages to enjoy their motor racing ambitions.

Our new logo will represent the continued success of the club and opportunities for our members as we embark on an exciting future. The dedication of our hard-working committee and volunteers also continues to provide benefits for our members and community. The recent financial grants awarded to the club for the track upgrade and IT equipment investment are a testament to the success of this hard work and commitment.

We are super proud of where we are as a club and look forward to sharing updates of upcoming events and new track works, all under the brand of our new logo.

President, Ballarat Kart Club

Hamilton Member Wrap Up

🔊 Hamilton VCS member wrap up 🔊

Wow, what a weekend! There were extremely challenging conditions from the get-go on Saturday with the weather proving to be a major factor all weekend and testing the most seasoned of racers. The rain was on and off ALL weekend and no one was spared from the changeable conditions, particularly those who got the mid race rain!

It was great to see so many members competing with some fantastic results across the weekend. Even with the challenges, there was good experience gained for those who were not accustomed to these types of conditions. We now look forward to Round 6, the final round of the 2022 Victorian Country Series, at our home track in Haddon on 19-20 November 2022.

Congratulations to all members who competed, especially those who managed a win or podium. Check out the finals places for each class below or view the full results on Speedhive.

Life Memberships for Michelle Shields and Paul Feely

The Ballarat Kart Club thrives through the efforts and many hours put in by its passionate volunteers.

At our recent 60th anniversary celebrations we acknowledged the tireless efforts of two very committed volunteers, Michelle Shields and Paul Feely, with their awarding of Life Membership to the Ballarat Kart Club. Michelle and Paul’s individual contributions over many years has, and continues, to contribute to the success of our club through their work behind the scenes in our month-to-month activities and at race events.
We all thank you both for your amazing contribution and dedication to our club!

Michelle became involved in Ballarat Kart Club well over a decade ago, when her son was competing in karting.
To the club’s good fortune, Michelle continues to volunteer her time as an active committee member, and managing all the aspects of the canteen, from ordering, picking up supplies and operating the canteen to ensuring attendees at race meetings are kept fed and watered.
Michelle, from us all, we thank you for your on-going support of the club.

Paul’s talents have spread across the many disciplines of karting, not only as a driver, but also through his involvement in building the success of the Victorian Country Series (VCS), through photography, promotions and operations, and being a major contributor in growing the series to what it is today. Paul has dedicated countless years to the Ballarat Kart Club, holding the role of President for many years and is currently the Secretary on the club’s committee.
The club has been fortunate to have Paul’s assistance in writing many grant applications, in particular the recently successful Motorsport Grant which will fund the major infrastructure works, extending our track and providing amazing benefits for our members and our success in the future.
Paul also frequently sits out of the kart, in favour of running race meetings as our main official for our club-day events while also being an official at our VCS events. Motorsport and Ballarat Kart Club is a major part of Paul’s life, and like all of our volunteers, we are very fortunate to have people dedicated to supporting the sport that they love.

From all at the Ballarat Kart Club we thank Michelle and Paul for their amazing work and dedication.
